About Abbey
A Tribute To Abigail Rae Wambach
Abigail Rae Wambach Foundation was created in the memory of our daughter who was pronounced deceased at the age of 10 years old due to complications from LQTS. Both of Abbey’s parents are carriers of the gene and were unaware of the presence or risks associated with LQTS. Each year children and young adults suffer cardiac events during active play that could have been prevented with proper awareness, education and treatments. Please join us in our goal to recognize potential symptoms, advocate testing, and support these families.”
Symptoms to Recognize
LQTS is sometimes hard to detect. Many times the symptoms appear to be seizures instead of a cardiac issue. Typically the events happen during active play such as running, jumping, swimming or playing sports. If you know someone that has experienced a “seizure like” episode while being active, ask for an EKG and test for LQTS as well. It is a safe and non-evasive and simple process to test. It could make the critical difference in a proper diagnosis.

Genetic Testing
Gene testing is one of the most scientific tests to know if someone has long QT syndrome and other cardiac syndromes. Many children are affected by cardiac arrhythmia, as well. To make matters worse, there is little awareness among parents to deal with these syndromes. However, we feel that through educational seminars and information dissemination, things can be different.
